Using a checklist will ensure their camping trip isn’t plagued by problems caused by forgotten or missing items. A simple tool like a printable camping checklist is the first step they take when planning their next outdoor camping trip.

Most outdoor campers would probably never forget the tent, or the camp stove. They also remember the camp lanterns and first aid kit. But ask them if they ever had to fix their favorite campfire recipe by firelight or flashlight because you didn’t think to bring extra lantern mantles? Or eat a cold Sunday breakfast because they forgot the extra fuel bottle?

Smart campers know how easy it is to forget the small things. They know how the smallest forgotten item, can change a pleasant camping experience into one made miserable because they didn’t have what they needed.

Personal gear, camp food and prep items, and camp tools and accessories, are the three areas where a checklist is most helpful. These are the areas that can be most affected by forgotten gear.

Personal camping gear:? Disposable items like a small emergency poncho or bug spray? Convenience items – hat, sunglasses, camp pillow, or tent light? Travel kit – toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc.? Back-up supplies like; extra batteries and film, or socks and underwear? Trip-specific items like cold weather gear or activities items like your fishing rod and equipment

Camp food and prep items: – make sure you have all your campfire recipe ingredients, and a can opener, and any of the dozens of minor items needed for your camp meals? Go over your menu plan – make sure you have all the utensils and cookware you need to prepare the meals? Chuck box supplies – make sure you replaced any basics that were used up on your last camping trip? Check you campfire recipes to see if there are any special ingredients you need? Camp food – make a list of what and how much you need

Camp tools and accessories - all those handy little camp gadgets and the basic stuff too? Replacement items: fuel canisters, lantern mantles, tent stakes, fire starters? Camp tools: rake or shovel, stake mallet, garden trowel, camp saw and axe, file for blade sharpening? Utility items, like 2″ s-hooks, bungee cords, extra rope or cord, duct tape

Whether it’s hand-written on a legal pad, or formatted and printed, these are just a few of the things a free printable camping checklist will help you remember. Using a camping checklist will help ensure your next camping trip isn’t an ordeal because of some forgotten items.

Even if you make a checklist ? can you be sure you remembered to put everything on it? You can if you use a Free printable checklist. You can find individual checklists for the areas mentioned above, and also a printable master checklist that includes everything you need for a camping trip. Take a look – check out these Free printable camping checklists available at CampingwithGus.com.

Therm-a-Rest ProLite Plus Stuff Sack, Pomegranate, Large

Super light weight

Durable and longstanding

Completely water-resistant stuff sack

Made of 20D silicone-treated cordura nylon

These super-light stuff sacks provide durable, water resistant protection for our ProLite Plus mattresses. You are tired and want to relax, but before you do here are some things that you should do before you unwind.

1. Set your tent up, if weather permits so it can air out and dry. This will prevent mold and mildew from accumulating. You can also, clean the dirt and grime from your tent using a soft cloth and mild dish soap. Don’t use detergents or commercial cleaners as these can damage the tents coating and seams. Take the time to inspect your tent for any tears or holes and make any repairs with your needle and thread. Make sure your tent is dry when you take it down and don’t store it in the stuff sack. Store the tent loosely folded and put laundry drier sheets in the fold to prevent mice and other rodents from chewing and nesting in your tent. An added feature is that your tent will smell fresh for your next outing.

2. As with your tent, store your sleeping bags, foam pads folded loosely and not in their stuff sacks.

3. Sort your clothing and bedding items for laundering.

4. Give your camping stove a good cleaning and put your fuel canisters in a secure place. Make a note if you are running low on fuel to pick more up.

5. Make sure that you do the same with your camp lanterns and camp heaters that you may have used.

6. If you didn’t clean your cookware and utensils before you broke camp, be sure that you do that now.

7. Make a list of what you ran out of,or are running low on so you can replenish it before your next adventure.

Now you are ready to relax and get rested up for your next outing and your gear will be ready when you are. Taking good care of your gear always makes the next time easier and better.

Knots Camping – Okay, Leave the Good Stuff – Leaving No Trace – 10×10 Quilt Square

Knots Camping – Okay, Leave the Good Stuff – Leaving No Trace Quilt Square is 100% Cotton 10 inch fabric sheet with 7.5 inch image. I am aware, school’s out but I am not saying you should stop learning.

This time, utilize it for stuff you like to discover. One good instance is playing sports. There is no ideal time to learn more about soccer but summertime. This is because many soccer camps are available during this season; have a look at c2csoccer.com. There are many that it will be difficult for you to select one.

Now, it is created more simpler by using these simple advice: consider the factors given down below when you try to find the ideal soccer camp for you. ? The lessons. Well, needless to say, it is better if you know what you will understand when you go there. One indication of a great soccer camp is that they coach you on the four factors of skill development—namely technical precision, tactical development, strength and conditioning, and ultimately, sport psychology training. These matters can help you turn into a soccer player. ? The thing you want to learn. Of course, you have in mind the things that you need to learn. To ensure that you to be satisfied, the soccer camp in places you will go should match all your wants.

Different camps specialized on different factors. For soccer strategies, you have to go for a longer one that will can last for about one month or more. If you wish to get better at the principles, get a soccer camp that has many coaches which can monitor you while if you wish to be in good shape, go to one that has physical training as their forte. ? In many places, you are allowed to camp all year round and all age groups can have fun. Some of the many benefits of camping are enjoying your time away from the every day life setting. You have options to go on hikes and breathe the fresh out door air, while enjoying the animals around you and enjoy stuff like fishing. Most of all, you are able to enjoy yourself. Being prepared is the difference between a wonderful trip and a bad camping trip. We’ll talk about how you should be prepared, so you can have a great camping time.

If you are camping for the first time, you should buy basic camping supplies, as well as simple camping foods. It is vital to have great camping equipment before leaving to your camping destination. Make sure to purchase equipment that is made for the weather conditions and terrain that you plan to camp out in. Don’t forget to insure good care of your complete list of camping equipment, so everything lasts for plenty more camping trips.

One of the first supplies that you’ll need is a camping tent. A good brand tent is something to have, so you should pick the best tent that is within your price. There are multiple different types of tents to choose from. Tents come in a lot of sizes and can fit a single or a large group. Most 1-2 person tents are very light and easy to assemble. You also might want to take notice to the season of tents. If you decide to camp in a variety of multiple seasons, a four season tent is what you will need. Four season tents can take all sorts of bad conditions including both hot and cold temperatures. Heavy duty camping tents have an extra layer of wall that helps to keep you warm in cold weather.

You will also need plenty of camping supplies. Having multiple supplies like cooking utensils, flashlights, proper clothing and a sleeping bag are just a few supplies that you’ll need. Having a camping checklist on you is a great idea for marking off your camping supplies before going away. It’s a must to make sure that you have all the camping supplies that you need for your trip. A camping vacation can go horrible if camping supplies are forgotten.

Taking a camping trip can be a wonderful vacation. By making sure you have all supplies that you need for the trip, you can ensure your camping trip will be a time to remember.

Question by †|||-_theGuy_-|||†.
3 nights out in the wood so gimme a list!

Best answer:

Answer by chris w
here you go

http://www.rei.com/expertadvice/articles/family+camping+checklist.html

Know better? This voluntary nature makes children more open to new experiences, with personal satisfaction as their motivation. Not only are there opportunities to try new things, but camp offers many areas for children to excel in. At a good general interest camp, the non-athlete can shine at arts and crafts, woodworking, or dramatic programs, while the athlete can also find many outlets for their skills. Perhaps most importantly, the two campers learn to live together and become friends despite their varied interests.

Kids Summer Camps offer many opportunities to become competent. Practicing both new and old skills on a regular basis, it makes sense that there will be improvement. Novices have chances to learn, while those who are more experienced can improve. Learning new skills and improving on old ones builds self-esteem. Children become more independent and self-reliant at camp with their new found skills.

Sending your child to camp is giving them an opportunity to try something new. No matter how many after-school programs or lessons a child takes, its likely they will never have the opportunity to try all that is offered at summer camp. In a supportive environment, the child can try at something new. The interesting twist to these activities is that, since campers often don’t know anyone else at camp before they go, they are more willing to try activities that their friends at home might not expect them to. The athlete can try out for the camp play, while the artist may dabble in sports. At camp, children can try new things and set their own goals for success.

Though years later, your child may not remember capture the flag games or the words to a camp song, the life lessons learned at camp will remain. At camp, a child learns how to take responsibility. The child who has never before made a bed, will learn how to smooth out sheets and blankets and tidy up a cubby. Though counselors will remind and encourage, campers quickly take responsibility for personal hygiene, and for more minor health issues, a camper learns to articulate what hurts and how to get help. All of this personal responsibility further fosters a sense of independence and self-esteem. Camp also improves a child’s social skills by making new friends and learning how to reach out to strangers. At camp, children learn to get along with others, all while living together 24 hours a day, learning about courtesy, compromise, teamwork, and respect. Minnesota Camps

During a recent survey of campers in 20 different camps that where accredited by the American Camping Association provided answers to questions like “What did you learn at camp?” “How are you different in school because of what you did at camp last summer?” “How do you feel differently about yourself since you’ve been to camp?” American Camp Association

Can you think of things you learned and did at camp last summer that helped you in school this year? * I learned to have more patience and to appreciate the things I have. (10 year old female) * I feel that I am better at interacting with friends and family. The people skills learned at camp affected me dramatically when I went home. (15 year old male) * Leadership, organization, water-skiing, make my bed, keep my stuff clean, to keep in touch with my friends, respect, how to handle pressure. (13 year old female)

If explaining camp to friends, what would you say you learn here? * You learn mostly how to interact with different kinds of people and are open to different ideas. You learn how to cooperate well with others who share and don’t share the same opinions as you. (15 year old female) * I learned to have fun, be a leader, discipline, and most of all – respect. (12 year old male) * You learn how to make new friends, learn different sports, and learn that camp can be a very good part of summer! (9 year old female)

Do you feel differently about yourself when you are at camp? * I feel differently because I feel like I am accomplishing something by being here. (13 year old female) * At school there are defined groups of people, but at camp, everyone feels wanted. (15 year old female) * Yes, because I’m with people my age and people who respect everyone. (11 year old male) * At camp I think that I can do more and be proud of myself. (13 year old female) * At camp I have a personality that is different from home. I’m less cautious to do fun or exciting things. I don’t feel as alone as I sometimes do at home. (14 year old male) * When I’m at camp I feel that I can be more open with myself and others. I tell people things at camp I wouldn’t speak of back home. I feel so much more in tune with myself here and I can discuss issues so much more openly. (15 year old male) * I don’t have to be fake to anyone. Everyone here accepts me as I am and I’m not judged or criticized. (15 year old female)

Given the benefits of a sleepaway camp, it seems that all children should enroll. There are camps for almost all children, including those with special needs. However, there are certainly children who are not ready for an overnight camp experience. Be sure you and your child are ready to leave home.

Find out how to pick a summer camp at SummerCampAdvice.com information

Question by Alex.
Stuff for camping scotland?
what things do you need to take with you when going camping in the mountain’s of scotland, do you need a GPS

Best answer:

Answer by Maxine B
you DEFINITELY need a GPS and compass and map.

Add your own answer in the comments!

Powered by Yahoo Answers

Softie Camp

some of the softies were inspired by:
www.flickr.com/people/needlings/
www.needlings.etsy.com

also inspiration from:
"Softies" by Therese Laskey
"The Cute Book" by Aranzi Aronzo

Official US Military Compression Sleeping Bag Stuff Sack

Heavy duty nylon material and straps

Nylon Coated

Plain Weave Cylinder Shape

Nylon Drawcoard closure with barrel lock

Approximate 28″ to 30″ Long, 12″ to 14″ Diameter

Official US Military Compression Sleeping Bag Stuff Sack. These cylindrical shaped nylon, usually waterproof, enclosures protect your bag from unnecessary wear and tear and also from the rain.

Material

Most stuff sacks are made of newer fabrics like coated polyester and ultralight silicone-impregnated nylon.

While the material itself is waterproof, the drawstring closure in most stuff sacks is not so be careful about getting it into water and if you tie your sleeping bag to the outside of your backpack make sure you at least cover the drawstring closure with a waterproof material to protect against rain. A plastic bag will do in most cases.

Newer stuff sacks like the eVac Dry Sack from Sea To Summit don’t use drawstring closures but instead you roll the sack down and then close the buckle. This accomplishes two things. First, when you roll the sack down air is pushed out of the base so water can’t get in. Second, it allows you to save both space and weight. The weight saving though is not such a big deal. You only save a little bit of weight but the space saving is much appreciated.

The lightest stuff sacks are made of silicone-impregnated nylon parachute cloth. It can be as light as 0.5 oz or even less. GoLite employs this type of material and they made an improvement to the drawstring closure by adding a collar instead of just a drawstring and flap configuration. Outdoor Research on the other hand uses a good waterproof fabric called Hydroseal. This fabric is tough and can handle rough use but still limp enough to mold itself to the contents of the sack. This stuff sack is available in the drawstring-flap configuration as well as roll closure secured with Velcro bindings.

Compression and Size

Most stuff sack suppliers have some sort of compression model with straps, laces or double drawstrings that reduces the volume by up to half. You can also stuff in your down jacket or parka together with the sleeping bag into the sack. Make sure that yours is big enough for you to easily put in whatever you intend to put in.

Don’t get a small stuff sack just because you think it would save you space because in most cases you’ll just have unused, wasted space in your backpack as a result. Another problem is that even if you can cram your sleeping bag and other stuff into the sack when you’re at home, doing so in less than ideal conditions on an empty stomach with the cold wind biting at you can turn it into a monstrous task. Get one that’s big enough to take its load with extra room to spare, leaving it soft, malleable and easy to stuff. I use Outdoor Research Hydroseal DryComp Sacks but I’m thinking of getting the eVac Dry Sack from Sea to Summit for myself.

Jonsky is also writes at hubpages with articles on down sleeping bags, stoves, tents and other camping gear. Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Roo
Before buying random costumes look around the house an gather up some cool stuff. Search your moms or dads closet for interesting party wear that looks as if it was from the 60′s or 80′s. You could buy face paints and sidewalk games to use in the talent show and keep for entertaining yourself and camp friends. If its a sleep away camp bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. If its not forget about that. If you don’t have many costumes to wear buy some at toy stores. I would suggest just using Halloween costumes. You also need to pack for the weather. if its Florida pack tank tops or t shirts with shorts. If its Vermont pack long sleeved shirts and jeans…. anything in between pack a mix.

What do you think? Camping

Any coast trail camping in the Pacific Northwest requires a bit of care for staying dry, and consequently, warm. The Olympic Coastal Strip in Olympic National Park in Washington is a prime example, as well as the West Coast Trail and North Coast Trail on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Getting through one of these challenging hikes most often means managing the wetness that comes with the west coast. Inexperienced coastal hikers often have a less than stellar experience because they are wet and cold. This just does not have to happen. A few simple things can help, chief among these is managing the tent or shelter.

First, the right gear and clothing are absolutely essential. Face it, if you are hiking, you want the least weight possible. Lightweight equipment is not difficult to come by anymore. Get the right gear instead of leaving the heavy stuff behind. You need the gear. A lightweight tent, with a groundsheet and a good fly, makes staying dry a lot easier. Although it is possible to work with a tarp and bivvy sack, let’s deal with the majority of people-we’ll look at tenting.

1. Pack your tent and its parts into plastic bags to keep everything else dry in your backpack.

2. Carry a lightweight tarp. These are available for between about and 0. Set the tarp up before the tent, over the tent pad. If it is raining, or threatening, you have a sheltered place to set up your tent, keeping it dry.

3. Use your groundsheet properly under the tent to keep moisture away from the tent surface.

4. Set up on a spot that is slightly above the surrounding ground. If there is not water pooled in the low spots already, then there can likely be pools later on. Make sure you are setting up in a drainable position.

5. Make sure your tent is set up properly. The fly needs to be tight and not touching the actual tent. Proper staking helps make sure the fly is tight, increasing its effectiveness against rain and wind. The fly also needs to follow the lines of the tent and poles. One problem with some tents is splash. In heavier rains, water hitting the wet ground or tent platforms can splash up under the edge of the fly and right into the tent through the mesh fabric. By staking fly lines so that the fly follows the contour of the tent, you can minimize this problem.

6. Set up your tarp/tent before you change into your dry clothes. Once you have the shelter set up, you can change into the dry stuff in a dry space. This is part of protecting the dry clothing to make sure it is effectively warm for you.

7. Keep all your dry clothes in a separate dry bag. Keep any wet clothes in a different bag. If you are hiking in the rain, you are going to be wet. Even with excellent rain gear, if you are not wet from the rain, you are probably going to be wet from sweat. Diligence with keeping a warm, dry set of clothes helps make the trip comfortable in the campsite.

8. After you have set up the tent, move the tarp or tent to have a decent sized sheltered area to enter and exit the tent. In other words, at least one doorway is well covered by the tarp. If there are two or more of you with a tent that has two doors on opposite sides, use the unsheltered side and its vestibule for backpack and gear storage and the sheltered side for entry/exit. With a good sized sheltered entry, you can shake off any water, or remove rain gear before entering the tent, helping to keep the inside dry.

9. Wait until just before getting into your sleeping bag to pull it out of its protective bag. The sea air is very wet and sleeping bags can pull moisture out of the air if left out in the tent. To prevent moisture absorption, leave the sleeping bag protected in its bag inside the dry tent until ready for use.

10. Open some vent areas in the fly to help reduce condensation inside the fly. We breathe out a large amount of moisture in the night which can condense and collect on the inside of the fly. By increasing the ventilation, you can minimize this moisture build up.

11. Take your tent down under the shelter just like you put it up. You are still trying to keep everything as dry as possible. Wet gear is heavier gear. You may have to move the tent or tarp again to cover the whole tent for this, but it is worth it to keep the tent dry.

12. Change back into wet clothing and gear under the shelter the next day, before leaving. Your tarp is last to go. It provides shelter for entering/exiting the tent. It can also be a shelter for breakfast. But, you may need an additional tarp for a kitchen area to minimize food bits around your tent. In these wild areas, it is best not to cook and eat around your shelter (or anyone else’s).

13. And the last tip is to pack in small bits. Small bags, either dry bags or small stuff sacks lined with plastic bags, are best for managing dryness and for efficient packing. Larger bags make packing difficult and increase the possibility of getting wet things mixed with dry things, making them wet in return.

Your warmth and comfort make a huge impact on how you enjoy and how you remember a trip. If you are warm and dry when you are hanging around camp, then your experience will be much better than if you are wet and cold. Managing your dry things becomes all important for this, and having dry shelter is the best way to give yourself a dry place and to keep dry clothes for camp. With this information about how to keep a dry tent space, you should be better prepared to get out there and enjoy hiking and coast trail camping on the west coast.

<a Well, to make things easy, you can prepare a checklist of items that you need to pack. The most important factor would be the duration for the child will be away. Even though a majority of overnight summer camps provide the things of necessity for the kids, packing your own things is always better. Include the following things in your checklist.

Since most sleep away camps provide laundry service once a week, you can pack socks and underwear for 7-10 days to cover for any unforeseen situation like break down of camp’s washers. In addition to many T-shirts and sweatshirts, you should also pack a warm jacket and at least two pairs of long pants, plus 6-7 shorts and pajamas. Instead of purchasing new shoes, pack used and comfortable running shoes, sports sandals and hiking boots.

Pack a toilet kit that includes soap, shampoo, tooth paste and tooth brush plus a couple of face towels, towels and a hairbrush. Remember to pack a SPF 15 or higher sunscreen.

Ensure to pack a mosquito repellent and a bug spray as without these camps can turn out to be quite uncomfortable.

It is advisable to make your child carry a sleeping bag so as to keep him warm and comfortable, irrespective of where he sleeps.

Provide your kid with a disposable camera along with some extra batteries to enable him to capture the most memorable moments for life.

Although, most camps provide flashlights for nighttime activities, it is better to pack one with a new battery with your kids stuff. Not only does every child like to have his own, but you can never be sure of when it may come handy.

Encourage your child to write his memoirs during his stay at the camp even he is not having the habit of doing so. Someday he is sure to appreciate these priceless memories.

The Camp Professor helps you to recognize your child’s interests and select the most suitable sleep away camp for him. It all depends on how much you want to spend, how long you will spend out there in the wilderness, how many people are going to be going with you as well as how you will be getting to your camping spot. There is so much variety when it comes to camping gear and equipment that you can quickly eat up your camping budget if you’re not careful. It’s best to comprise a list and stick to that list before you ever get to the sporting goods store so that you don’t overspend and go crazy with all the camping gear and equipment that’s available.

How Much And How Long

You should make that list and also stick to a certain budget. If you find that you go over that budget, you may want to cut back on a few items. You should also put some stars next to those items that you absolutely cannot do without. This should include your camping tent, sleeping bags, food items, cooking items and eating utensils. You also have to look at how long you’ll be going for. This is especially important as far as food and water go as you don’t want to be in the middle of nowhere without food or water. So make sure you plan your meals and your water intake with as much leeway as possible. It’s sometimes better to pack more than you think you’ll need just in case you get stranded or lost.

How Many People

Are you going camping by yourself or are you taking your entire family? This will impact your camping gear and equipment list drastically. You can use one tent, but you might need more sleeping bags. You might be able to use one pot and pan but you’ll need more utensils, more food and more water. If you’re sticking to a budget, you’ll have to buy multiples of certain items and you might have to cross a few other items off the list.

How Are You Getting There?

Are you driving to your camping location? Or are you hiking? Driving will mean that you can pack as much stuff as your car can handle. If you’re hiking, that’s a different story altogether. You’ll want to pack light as you’ll have to carry all that stuff over long distances. Remember, water is heavy and the containers can be cumbersome. So unless you’re taking a pack mule with you, you might want to plan your camping gear and equipment carefully so that you don’t take more than you can carry or more than you think you’ll need.

Question by emma trenier.

Best answer:

Answer by bellnitro
Volvo!!! Going to the woods and checking out what nature has given you is something different and extra ordinary to fellowship with plants and trees. This is not the usual out of town trips where utmost convenience and comfort await you. This is something that will test your patience and resourcefulness. Before, where there are only few camping accessories available to help you out, tent camping is not an activity to engage into.

But nowadays, this is not the case anymore. Even if you are there to commune with the woods and trees, it can already be a perfect time to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan life. Despite the dangers of staying in these types of place, you can feel secured if you are loaded with the right camping accessories and gears.

If you are on the verge of packing your things for your tent camping two from now, you must take a look at your checklist so you will not miss out anything. Keep in mind that you should be a smart and safe packer. Do not compromise style and your look with the basic necessities in this activity. There are people who are hesitant to complete the camping essential list since they do not want to look ridiculous carrying big backpacks with them.

First thing to secure is your clothes. Make sure that you have brought along enough clothes for the entire activity. Do not include those made of heavy fabrics since they only consume so much space and add up too much weight. As much as possible choose those with lighter cloth and not-easily-wrinkled type of clothes. You do not expect to iron them every time you chance your outfit. That is not a hotel, it is a camp site.

Prepare for terrible weather to come. You might experience heavy rainfall or strong winds, so it is best that you have brought along jackets, ponchos and other stuff that will provide warmth during these times. You do not have so much time to look for blankets and other stuff you find at home. So it is best that you bring something that is easy to use and handy.

Wear appropriate footwear for this activity. You do not expect to bring heels and other formal sandals with you if you go on tent camping. Avoid bringing heavy shoes and slippers. You can just pack a pair of slippers and camping shoes so it will not add up to your load. Besides you will be walking and hiking all the time, so there is no enough time for you to keep on changing your footwear.

Do not forget to include in your camping accessories list the emergency and medicine kits. These things are very important since you might be experiencing headache, stomach upset and cuts during your trip. So it is best to be prepared for unexpected happenings.

Tent camping is really a fun and exciting activity to do. But it will be more fun and memorable if you have brought along the necessary camping accessories to make the trip comfortable and convenient.

Question by HellBoy65.
i mean what do you need apart from some medicines, camping/fishing gear etc?

i’ve been told that i should get some good clothes while going to fishing, not sure what he meant, does anyone know about it?
and that” good clothes” where do i buy them?

Best answer:

Answer by His Cheifness
a t-shirt some sunblock and some shorts. plus everything in case weather conditions change. if you want fishing clothes that are meant for fishing, go to your nearest cabelas, bass pro shop, wholesale sports, fishing hole, mec, (maybe even hikers village), and than get some t-shirts, sunblock, and some shorts. plus everything in case weather conditions change

and DEFINITELY get polarized sunglasses.

yes i always bring way to much shit when i go fishing.

Give your answer to this question below!

Powered by Yahoo Answers

Softie Camp

softies inspired by:
www.flickr.com/people/needlings/
www.needlings.etsy.com

Fun Stuff from the FWBC 2009 Camping Trip

www.faithfulwordbaptist.org
Video Rating: 0 / 5

Camping Accessories- Be a Smart and Safe Packer is a post from: Camping Gear Corner

Related posts:

Summer Camping Ideas for the Smart Camper

Tips for Buying Camping Accessories

Gina’s camping stuff (continued)

Camping Stuff

Gina’s camping stuff (continued) Question by . Not only can your kids learn a lot about nature tripping, you can also build up memories from this and your kids will surely remember the fun they have experienced on this trip. But if it’s your first time to experience such adventure, you need to learn about camping gear just to make sure you’re family has everything they need when coming to camps.

Camping gear nowadays vary from small to big items. It’s really important to know what gears you should be getting and to know if your vehicle and bags could accommodate all of your stuff. But of course you have to consider the important stuff so as not to overload your ride. Basic camping gears that you could bring are the following:

Tents

Tents will serve as your shelter. If you have a big family, you have to make sure that you’ve got enough tents for everyone. Tents come in various size and shapes. Camping experts say you have to have the right tent depending on the terrain and weather. This will serve as your family’s protection.

Sleeping Bags, Pillows

This will serve as your bed. And having sleeping bags can provide additional warmth and comfort when sleeping on the ground. There are lots of sleeping bags you can shop around depending on what kind of sleeper you are. Make sure to check on the temperature rating that way you can be comfortable with your camping bedding.

Rain Gear

When suddenly rain starts to pour down while you’re hiking, you will definitely need your rain gear. Plastic rain coats are light and easy to carry around. This way you don’t get soaked up while hiking.

Lanterns and Flashlights

This could light up place on a dark cold night in the wilderness.

Camp Stoves

These stoves are very handy. And it makes cooking easy. Just makes sure you bring enough fuel for this.

Cooler and Ice chest

To accommodate all of your drinks, and if you have enough space on your trailer or vehicle, you can definitely make room for coolers. They can help preserve your food and retain the coolness of your drinks.

Tarps

I have done some research on other important camping gear and I’ve come across tarps (specifically tent footprint tarps). This could actually make your tents last longer and a protection from making it damp.

Sharps

Actually, I am referring to knives and other cutting devices. You have to make sure to have one just in case you need to cut a rope or even dice up your food. And it could be handy in some emergency cases.

It’s fun to research about camping gear. But definitely choosing your own would also mean you have to take note of your budget. Make sure on your first camping trip with the family, they can have all the comfort just like at home. Definitely it will have a lasting effect on them.

Camping Trips : Camping Tips: Dangerous Plants & Animals

When camping, spiders and poison ivy are always a concern. But it isn’t necessarily cheap. There are quite a few things you will need.

Tents, sleeping bags and propane stoves are a few of the things most people like to have with them, but don’t forget about other cooking gadgets, backpacking gear and storage for all the stuff you need to take and carry to the campsite.

Here are a few tips to save money on all that stuff:

Specialty Retailers – As is true for many specialty items (such as electronics), it can be very useful to find a retailer that specializes in carrying only that item. Because they usually have room on their sales floor for more items and more of each item, they are not forced to mark up their products as high as other retailers that may have very little stock. Remember what you learned in school about supply and demand? Same principle. In addition, by shopping at a specialty camping or outdoors retailer, you are assuring that you have the largest selection to choose from. This can often save you money alone by giving you the opportunity to purchase a high-quality product that will not fall apart after one camping season.

Surplus Stores – Many people are not aware of surplus stores, and many more are confused by what they actually offer. Surplus stores sell used items, or items that have never been used but were previously owned. They mostly carry outdoor equipment, military items and industrial specific items. For this reason, you can often find a lot of camping, hunting, or outdoor gear and equipment. In addition, you can get great discounts because of the nature of the store and how the products were obtained by the retailer.

Classifieds – One of the best ways to find great deals on camping equipment is to search your local classifieds. Many people decide to start camping, purchase all of the necessary equipment, and then shortly thereafter decide camping really isn’t for them after all. They then put their very slightly used equipment up for sale in hopes to get something back from their purchase. The deals found in classifieds may be so good that you’d even spend a little gas money to purchase and pick up something out of your immediate local area.

If you’ve been tagging along with others when camping throughout the years, and are finally ready to purchase equipment of your own, don’t panic over the possible cost. Do a little research and use the tips above to help you on your search for affordable new or used camping equipment that will allow you and your family to have many years of camping trips to come.

Camping Trips : Camping Tips: Clothes to Wear

Clothing for camping trips should keep a person comfortable, warm and dry. If you go camping you need to know how to set up your camping tents, you need to be absolutely sure that you have every little item that belongs to the tent (sticks, stacks, rope) and that you know exactly all the techniques on how to build your camping tents. If you do not prepare, building camping tents will be a time consuming catastrophe and it can end up with you all having a horrible experience and going home before the camping trip actually starts. So, make sure you are equipped with the right stuff and knowledge in how to use it.

Practice and preparation

Before you go anywhere you need to put your tent up at least one time, if you have a yard that would be perfect if you don’t go to a park and build it there. This way you know if the tent is complete, if you have everything and it saves you an enormous amount of stress later on if you know how to build your tent. Making mistakes is not so bad if it is in your own yard and you do not have to sleep in the tent that night.

Because you leave the luxury of home behind when you go on a camping trip you need to be sure your stay will be as safe and as comfortable as possible. Especially safety is essential on a camping trip. When this is your first camping trip we advise you to choose a location not to far from your home place, this way you can return home when you stumble upon some problems.

Find the right spot

It is best when you find some plain and even land to start building your camping tents, high land especially when rain is predicted is an absolute pre, this will help you to keep your tent as well as your sleeping bags dry. So look for even, plain and high land.

A Ground Cloth is No Luxury

This is an essential piece of camping gear, it keeps the floor of the actual tent clean and dry and it protects it against rocks and pointy objects. It protects the tents from all kinds of damage. It is a cheap piece of camping gear and you can buy it at every local camping store and even most hardware stores will have it for sale.

Hammer Stacks in the Ground

Almost all of the camping tents come with stacks and you need to hammer those stacks in to the ground. But the most cheap tents also have cheap stacks and they bent and rust and eventually break. So do your self a favor and buy some extra good aluminum or steel stacks. They need to be firm because you need to hammer the stacks to the ground and fix the tent rope tightly so the tents will not blow out even in heavy windy conditions.

Do you still want to go?

All the above sounds like camping is horrible and dangerous and it really isn’t you just need to be prepared. Camping is a real fun and wonderful way to spend time with your family and friends, you are in the outdoors, doing stuff together and experience all kinds of things that only camping can give you. So prepare and enjoy…

Innate Meta Traveller Envelopes – Camping Gear TV 111

Innate makes stuff cool stuff. Also amazingly cute design?
I guess you can give me a website too if the place is that good.
Greatly appreciated for those who gave me an answer =3

Best answer:

Answer by cliff
academy

Give your answer to this question below!

Powered by Yahoo Answers

Why Only The Best Basketball Camps Teach Chess

Why Only The Best Basketball Camps Teach Chess

They say players compete in the winter but they are made in the summer.

This may be true, but HOW they are made is a topic of much debate. What is the right mix of gym time, weight time, or game time? What are the best ways to spend that time: by yourself? In a pickup game? Attending the best basketball camps? It can all be a little overwhelming, and you only have so much time.

That said, with all the work players put in to learning how to play the game, they tend to forget that they can get an enormous edge over their competition by learning how to THINK the game as well.

One of the best basketball camps to address this is Point Guard College (don’t let the name fool you, they’re not just for point guards). Aside from intense on court training, they spend a large amount of time working on the psychological aspects of the game through video analysis, classroom training, and leadership development as well. The goal is to develop complete players, thinkers, and leaders in the community who are equally valuable off the court as they are on. And their approach is gaining ground.

Much of Point Guard College’s philosophy comes from the man who started it all, legendary basketball thinker Dick Devenzio, who not only started one of the best basketball camps, he wrote one of the best basketball books: Think Like a Champion. (When John Wooden says your camp and your book are the real deal, people pay attention.)

To get an idea of the kind of approach taken by the Point Guard College, take a look at one of the chapters in Dick’s book called “Chess-Game Vision”, which starts like this:

“One of the main reasons an athlete practices and plays over and over again is to learn to see the action unfold clearly, almost as if it were on camera in slow motion. This I call chess-game vision, essentially the ability to see the whole field or court at once, and watch a play unfold, slowly. It only happens with experience. In fact, sometimes you seem to have it on one level only to realize that you don’t have it when you move up to the next level. Making this transition is often impossible for athletes who may excel in their backyards but can’t seem to perform the same heroics on a school team. What exactly is this vision thing? It is hard to define, but I think a few examples may be useful to you.

Once at my summer basketball program for point guards a young athlete told me that the concepts I was teaching were good for drills but they couldn’t be used in games because “the action in games happens too fast to do all that stuff.” The idea of getting double-teamed and still looking for her four teammates—and perhaps calling one particular teammate into a better position to make a pass easier to complete—seemed just impossible to her.

How could she be searching for her teammates and talking and choosing just the right one and then telling that one teammate to move, when two defenders were swiping and pushing and grabbing for the ball? “You only have five seconds before they blow the whistle for a tie-up,” she said. Like most inexperienced athletes she failed to realize that good players do indeed do all that stuff (in a lot less than five seconds) and once you are experienced it doesn’t seem as though the action happens so fast. The defenders’ efforts don’t seem so all-consuming, and your own teammates’ positioning is something you’re very aware of before the double-team even arrives. There is not only time to “do all that stuff,” there’s even time to motion to a different player to race down the opposite side before throwing the pass, and maybe still a few moments extra to pull a sandwich from your back pocket and catch a bite to eat.”

There are all kinds of things people can learn from attending a basketball camp, but these days, the best basketball camps out there may be the ones that tell you how to think the game, and not just play it.

How to Pack for a Weekend Camping Trip : How to Select First Aid Equipment for Camping

No matter the length of a camping trip, it is always essential to take some first aid equipment.
